Hopi Blue Corn Boy and Girl
Hopi clan water symbols
Sand texture and canvas and acrylics Paint
The images are coming from pottery and tiles dating back to around 1890 and older ,imagery that were found on pottery and Tiles that were found in many trading post on the Hopi and Navajo reservation and imagery also used from different books and documents of the tiles and pottery symbols ,I created the imagery from those images and apply to them to the canvas treat it with sand texture and acrylic Paint..
Even thou the images were created on tile or pottery and painted with earth pigments ..I gave it color to give it a more contemporary update to what we create now ..styles have change in aspects of Hopi Art , it’s started back in the 70s by five Hopid Artist with the concept , that changed the traditional imagery too what it is now a contemporary form of art..
